Resurrecting chivalry

December 4, 2012 by Scott

Again, we are honored to be a part of the excellent team of writers at A Biblical Marriage! Please join us today for our December column as we talk about 'equality' and the lost art of chivalry.   Ah chivalry, that outdated, long-forgotten notion of a bygone age of knights, heroes, and kings. Who needs it? Today’s women seemingly have it all – high-powered careers, equal rights under the law, political power, economic power, and more. Not that that’s all necessarily bad, but our … [Read more...]

All I want for Christmas is a doomsday bunker!

December 1, 2012 by Scott

I was watching the news during the big lotto frenzy. They were interviewing people off the street, asking them what they would do if they won the big bucks. I took notice when one guy said that he’d build his very own ‘doomsday bunker,’ because, like, “you never know what could happen, ya know?” Word. The day I conquered my fear

November 17, 2012 by Scott

Ever since I wrote ‘The day my son was braver than me’ about how I looked the ‘Wild Eagle’ in its beady little eagle eyes, then looked quickly away, the coaster has never passed up a chance to taunt me. Being a father of four who knows he’s going to have to eventually suck it up and learn to ride coasters with them, I’ve tried to ‘work my way up’ the roller coaster hierarchy. OK, the Tennessee Tornado was a bad choice, but perhaps some other, less intense rides could ‘warm me up’ to the … [Read more...]

Those hills we die on: Picking your battles in marriage

November 8, 2012 by Scott

We're so excited for the opportunity to write a monthly article for the excellent new website www.abiblicalmarriage.com. This is a wonderful resource for daily Christ-centered marriage articles, advice, and information. Our first article, 'Those hills we die on: Picking your battles in marriage,' posted today! "In May 1969, US Command ordered the frontal assault of a heavily fortified hill in Vietnam. They eventually took it, but at a heavy cost – 72 Americans died and 372 were wounded, all … [Read more...]
