Five ways to fight the system

February 9, 2013 by Scott

If there’s anything today’s powers-that-be hate, it’s self-sufficiency. They want you to be a cog in a machine, doing your part (whether that’s paying most of your income in taxes or drawing a check) to advance their socialist agenda, yet doing nothing to stand on your own two feet. By the actions of many municipalities across this once-great land, one would think such things as growing a garden or raising a few backyard chickens were akin to parking a couple of school buses and an old Ford … [Read more...]

Five ways prepping can save you money

February 2, 2013 by Scott

We’re by no means rich or even moderately well off, but we do believe strongly in living within our means. Granted, we’re probably not as strict on some things as Dave Ramsey would be, but on most financial matters we try to follow what we believe to be the spirit of Dave’s financial ‘school’ of advice. All I want for Christmas is a doomsday bunker!

December 1, 2012 by Scott

I was watching the news during the big lotto frenzy. They were interviewing people off the street, asking them what they would do if they won the big bucks. I took notice when one guy said that he’d build his very own ‘doomsday bunker,’ because, like, “you never know what could happen, ya know?” Word. It’s a real sign of the times when random people off the street want to spend their millions not on mansions, shiny cars, or expensive vacations, but on the perfect doomsday bunker, complete … [Read more...]

When the lights go out

November 4, 2012 by Scott

Due to the recent destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy, millions of people found themselves without power. There are reports of 6 hour gas lines, people knifing each other to get food and supplies, people rummaging through dumpsters for food, defecating in hallways, and more. Authorities say it could be late November before all power is restored. There are places in New York, such as Staten Island, right in what would seem to be the middle of Federal power, where people have waited for days for … [Read more...]

Five easy, inexpensive prepping steps everybody can take!

October 6, 2012 by Scott

As a family that tries to prepare, as best we can, for the inevitable hard times on the way, we see it as a part of our ‘mission’ to educate other families on the basics of prepping. When we do talk about this topic to others, however, inevitably we are met with resistance. It’s not so much that people, once given some basic facts, don’t see what’s coming. After all, the giant gaping cliff over which we’re headed is pretty obvious even to the ostriches among us. In fact, once they see it, it’s … [Read more...]
