Our family loves Netflix! We really don't have time to watch a whole lot of TV, but when we do, more often than not, Netflix is the medium we use. As Christians who try to be as discerning as possible with the time we do spend in front of the 'tube,' we find that Netflix is a wonderful tool. Here are ten reasons why: 1.) Netflix makes it easy to control and keep tabs on what the kids watch. Granted, they don't yet have 'parental controls,' but if your kids (like ours) know what they are … [Read more...]
Contentment
Do you ever catch yourself looking so much forward to the next day or even the next stage of life that you forget to enjoy the moment you are in? I know I have. When I was a child I remember feeling like the day couldn’t come fast enough when I would be a ‘grown-up.’ I remember 16 being such a far-off, exotic age, but one I couldn’t WAIT to reach, if only because I would be able to drive. How To Keep Your Princesses From Turning Into Divas!
In addition to our firstborn son, my wife and I have not one, not two, but three beautiful little princesses. Needless to say, we consider ourselves quite blessed. Being a family of 6 on a budget and trying to eat healthy, we don’t eat out a whole lot. When we do, we have a few parameters a restaurant has to meet in order to secure the honor of our presence. First, kids should eat free. Second, kids should eat free. And third, you guessed it, kids should eat free. Did I mention that it’s important that kids eat free? Now that we’ve gotten the kids eat free part down, a healthy, varied menu keeps us coming back for more (so long as kids eat free). No … [Read more...]
Clutter – get it before it gets you!
Living in Bristol and not being race fans gives us one nice advantage over most folks. Besides having our little town 3 times as crowded as normal for an entire week and roads that look like a scene from Mad Max (nothing like when *some* folks with a penchant for alcohol and fast cars get together for a big event!), we get to rent our house out twice a year (incidentally to the same nice people who take great care of our house every year)! So, twice a year, we have the duty of completely and … [Read more...]
