December 14, 2012, the day a deranged monster walked into Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newton, Connecticut and massacred 20 children and 6 adults, is a day that will live forever in the seemingly never-ending chronicles of evil. As the father of four, including a kindergartener, I am heartbroken beyond words. I cannot possibly imagine what it must be like for those families. This world we live in – we often forget that it’s evil, harsh, unforgiving. I can tell myself that horrible things … [Read more...]
Resurrecting chivalry
Again, we are honored to be a part of the excellent team of writers at A Biblical Marriage! Please join us today for our December column as we talk about 'equality' and the lost art of chivalry. I had always thought they were over-rated, over-complicated gadgets that the technologically uber-adept play with so they won’t have to make eye-contact with the general public as they zig-zag through the mall and other places where people congregate, or something pretentious people whip out so everyone around them will think they are important (news flash: they don’t). Friends kept telling me how cool, how convenient they … [Read more...]
The Fingerprints of God – A Christian case against genetic manipulation
The book of Genesis tells the story of a giant tower mankind once built because, in his vanity, he thought he could equal God. The Tower of Babel ended in miserable failure but humans, indomitable not just in will but also in their arrogance and folly, continue to believe they can build ‘structures’ to rival or even surpass the one who created the universe itself. Of course, building isn’t always evil. God gave man the intellect, the desire, and the ability to build magnificent things. Line … [Read more...]
