Isn’t it amazing that God not only cares about and answers the big prayers, but the small ones as well? Let me back up… With nothing but a willing heart and (let’s just say) rec level basketball experience, I had the tremendous honor of being asked to coach my son’s UpWard basketball team. Believe me when I say it was because they really didn’t have anyone else. Imagine, nine spirited first and second graders depending on me (and my partner, another Dad who, like me, has never coached) to … [Read more...]
A House FULL of Tattletales!
None of our kids would do well in prison. They would all be in protective custody for being SNITCHES! ‘Guard! Bubba stole my shank and he won't give it back! Guard! Guido put his finger in my gruel again!’ I mean, seriously, does it really matter that Hannah, buckled peacefully and harmlessly in her seat in our van, is breathing too hard for Abby’s sentimentalities? Better than McDonalds?!?! (Homemade Chicken Nuggets)
Let’s face it, EVERY mom DREAMS of hearing her children say how very much they appreciate and enjoy her cooking. Although at times I have given up, the hope still … [Read more...]
JUNK Food – We don’t pay for it but we get it anyway!
Parents of small children know that it’s very difficult to escape the constant, perpetual, unrelenting, ceaseless, unwavering (aren’t Thesauruses cool?) ENDLESS ways in which one’s children can acquire various random items of JUNK food that have nothing whatsoever to do with said parents giving it to them! Grandparents, relatives, Sunday school teachers, daycare workers, school teachers, barbers, waitresses who think they will get on your good side by bribing the kiddos with sweeties, doctor … [Read more...]
7 years ago today (Happy Birthday Nathaniel!)
It’s hard to believe that seven years ago today our son Nathaniel was born. Before that, we had went through more than a year of wondering if we would even be able to have children, resigning ourselves to the possibility that God might have other plans. While that would have been OK, we are so thankful that His plans for us included four wonderful kids, starting with Nathaniel, our firstborn. I had always been told that watching your child being born is unlike any other experience, but until … [Read more...]
