We love the Duggars! What awesome role models not only to parents with lots of kids, but all parents who want to raise their children right. We can’t imagine doing what they do, but then again we aren’t all called to raise 19 (or however many it is now) kids.
For us, four was our number. For others, it might be something else. I will say this – our youngest is 18 months and there’s not a time that we hold her that we don’t get a little sad thinking that this will be the last time we hold a child of our own this small, this innocent. It’s truly a bittersweet feeling, because as any parent can attest, getting them to that point takes a LOT of work, work that is not always pleasant. There will always be a small part of us that wishes we would have had more. But there were definitely some signs that four was enough for us. Here are 10 signs that you might have too many kids. These are tongue-in-cheek of course, but we’ll let the reader guess how true each one is.
.) If you had a nickel for every time someone says ‘you have your hands full’ when they see you with the kids in public, you could buy an extra set of hands.
.) The minivan won’t hold any more and you can’t afford a bus.
.) Whether you eat at a particular restaurant or not depends on whether kids eat free.
.) When they see you at their table at a restaurant, servers run the other way.
.) It takes 2 days to fill up the diaper bin.
.) You spend all day Saturday cleaning the house. By Monday it looks like a tornado hit it.
.) You point and yell ‘hey you’ when you need a particular child because you can’t keep their names straight.
.) You love and enjoy your kids, but your favorite time of the day is when they are in BED (the earlier the better)!
.) You feel you might have chosen the wrong career because your experience refereeing siblings makes you more than qualified for the NFL.
.) Your Christian friends tell you that when God said to ‘go forth and multiply’, He didn’t just mean you.
