Homemade Chocolate Hot Fudge Syrup
We like to eat healthy, but we like to splurge from time to time too. This old family recipe is a simple delight that’s great on ice cream, your favorite dessert or even right off a spoon! It’ll definitely surpass anything you buy in the store (plus there are no baddies like high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, artificial flavoring, etc.)!!
1 Cup Granulated Sugar 1/3 Cup Cocoa 3/4 Cup Evaporated Milk 1/4 Cup Butter 1/2 tsp Vanilla 1/8 tsp SaltCut up butter. Mix together sugar & cocoa in medium pan on stove. Add the evaporated milk and butter. Heat at medium temperature, stirring continuously – Trust me nothing is worse than burnt milk, or chocolate!! Bring to a full boil. This will really boil up, so be sure you use a pan that allows for this.
After it reaches full boil, take off of heat, then add vanilla and salt. Stir well. Allow to cool.
Store covered in refrigerator for several weeks. Or for extended time, you can also freeze it. Although it keeps well, this wonderful homemade treat never seems to last that long in our house!
